Question

Replacing engine 446777-0165-E1 with 44Q777-3137-G5

Uploading photo for you. The old engine had separate choke cable and throttle cable. New engine doesn't seem to require both cables.

How do my old cable attach to new engine? Exactly where?

Thanks.

I would recommend that you swap the bracket off of your old engine to the new one, the two brackets should be very similar and fit in place of one another.

Question

I'm unclear about the model number.

I'm looking for parts for a Briggs and Stratton engine, model number 10A902, but when the list comes up, it shows -0015-01 , -0016-01, 0018-01, 0101-01, 0106-01, etc, etc. after the model number. I don't have any more -XXXXXX numbers after the model number. I do have a type number 2189 B3, and a code number 00090755. How can I get parts without these extra -XXXXX numbers I don"t have. Are the parts all the same regardless ot the -XXXXX numbers ? Thanks. John.

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in B & S engine training.

Our authorized dealer training materials and applications are offered via our area distributors, who manage several states’/territories. Their contact information is located in the back of our dealer programs booklet

To view the varying dealer types, and the respective area representatives, please view and download the booklet in the following Answer:

Title: Becoming an Authorized Registered B & S Dealer
http://www.briggsandstratton.com/en...

Oftentimes, our Distributors can offer training to individuals not currently affiliated with a dealer. However, each distributor has their own policies. In my experience, most would be willing to accept anyone not affiliated with a dealer providing your mechanical skills are sufficient to not hold the class back. It’s worth a call to find out.

Our Customer Education division (in Menomonee Falls, WI) has a basic requirement that says you have to complete a Distributor's class, before you are eligible to come here. I do know that if you can keep up with the class, and have the time (and funds) to make it here, Customer Education will discuss your options prior to accepting your application.

For more information or a brochure regarding any of our programs, please call, write or email.

The problems you are having sound like symptoms of a sticking inlet needle, I recommend removing the carb from the unit to clean it. Before removing the carburetor I strongly recommend that you take a few digital pictures of how the springs and linkage are re-connected. Once removed, make sure you clean all the small internal passageways.

You will also need to remove the fuel bowl on the base of the unit. Once it is removed make sure you clean the inlet needle and the main jet of the carb. I would also recommend running some Briggs and Stratton fresh start fuel stabilizer (mixed with the recommended ratio of gasoline) through it to clean it out whatever you may have missed in the initial cleaning.

Perform these tests and let me know back with an update if you need further help.

I would recommend that you check the valve adjustment for your engine, they should be set to .003" to .005" for the intake and .005" to .007" for the exhaust. The valves need to be set with the piston a 1/4" past top dead center, I have included a link below that will be able to assist you.

The part number for the driver you will need is 19124 and the part number for the cylinder support is 19123. It appears that you need to drive the old bearing out and replace it with the new, it does make any mention of needing to ream the hole.

Question

I have a new mower and need to know how to start it

My landlord got a new pushmower and didn't leave the manual. The one online does not talk about what to do with a new lawnmower. The model number is 10T502-0457-B1. I add oil and gas but the pull cord will not move more than like 3 inches. It sounds like it is locked or is catching on something when I pull it. Is there something I am missing? I have never had a new lawnmower so I don't know if there is something i need to unhook or something like that to allow me to pull the start cord.

I have included the Operator’s Manual and the Illustrated Parts List for your engine. With this you will be able to find the information you are looking for. To start the engine you will need to make sure that you have the bail handle fully depressed. This will allow you to pull the engine over, if the engine is still not turning over I would recommend that you check to make sure that the blade is not hitting anything under the deck.

Question

No Model or Codes on Engine

Hi Hello, I have been dealing with your engins for a lot of years and know how important the Model and Codes are for ordering the right parts. Well I have a Yard Machines riding mower that is about 3 years old and parked for two. I have been unable to locate the numbers I need on the engine. I have looked in the places you say it is...no luck..I took the top cover off to expose more of the engine and also removed the body from the front to gain more access to the engine..but I have yet to see where any of the numbers are.

So what do I do now?? The engine is a I/C 17.5 HP.

The bar code number on the flywheel cover is: 070612ZD73681
Please help!!! Thank You. Steve

I will include some helpful links that will assist you in finding your engine's numbers. The numbers for your engine will most likely be stamped into the side of your OHV cover.

Please view this link for help in finding the engine’s numbers; you will need to select your equipment from the choices. You will also be able to view the video within the equipment type.

http://www.briggsandstratton.com/mo...

Keep in mind that the numbers that begin with the statement "Family:xxxxxxxx" are not the engine numbers, but rather come from the federal emissions label. You need to look for a series of STAMPED engine numbers.

The neutral on your unit is a bonded neutral internally in the unit. We do recommend that you do not remove the neutral ground bond because this is a portable unit and the bond is installed for safety reasons.

If unit is intended to be connected to a building we recommend using a neutral isolating transfer switch, we offer a transfer switch model 071014 that will work for this.
